James was always involved in sports and music. I have found music programs and sport schedules scattered in our files. Unfortunately, I was not very organized when the kids were small.
The digital world we live in makes it much easier to file these memories so we can search for specific items. My process is to scan the items, save as PDFs and keep notes about each event in OneNote (a Microsoft program) along with a link to the file. Later, I can create a digital scrapbook using these memories.
Since we have been so involved in our grandchildren’s lives, I am doing what I wish I would have done for my kids. I scanned and saved the musical programs, drawings and school papers. I also placed them in a physical notebook. Someday I will hand these to our grandchildren to enjoy along with the digital scrapbook which will include pictures I have taken.
So how do I protect these memories long term? I have found the perfect place to store, preserve and share these memories with future generations. Wouldn’t you love to be able to read about your great-grandfather’s experiences? Want to learn more?
