We all know that Mother’s Day is a special day each year that celebrates our mothers with cards, breakfast in bed or a gift. It’s a day set aside to honor our mothers. However, have you ever thought about mothers who have lost a child? Did you know there is a Bereaved Mother’s Day?
Bereaved Mother’s Day is the Sunday before Mother’s Day. It is a day to recognize those mothers who have a huge hole in their hearts. The best gift you can give her is remembering her child. Please remember the women you know who have lost a child by sharing a picture, a memory or a story. And be willing to listen as she shares her memories. Never be afraid to mention the child’s name…that is the best gift you can give a bereaved parent! The gift of remembrance.
Mother’s Day (May 9, 2021)…I celebrate that day too…in honor of our daughter. As well as remembering my mother and grandmother. While my grandmother never spoke of it; she was also a bereaved mother.
