May 4th is Bereaved Mother’s Day. The day that honors Mothers who have a child gone too soon.
Some people think we should get over the loss within a year’s time. When that doesn’t happen, they distance themselves from the bereaved parent.
We never get over the loss of our child. We miss them daily, hourly, minute-by-minute. The holidays, their birthdays, any day may be a difficult day. If you don’t know what to say to a grieving parent, just listen.
Remember… we like to talk about our child and share memories, too. We can’t make new memories, so please be understanding and willing to listen to the same story.
