Do you have any family traditions?
Most families have some yearly traditions around the holidays. Our family has had one weekly tradition that has carried forward into the next generation.
Friday night is pizza night. I can’t remember exactly when we started; but the kids were in grade school. I love to cook. Kids love to eat pizza. So I started making pizza dough, found a recipe for pizza sauce that I modified to fit our taste and we selected our favorite toppings. Each person makes their own pizza exactly how they want it. Then we play games while we eat the pizza.
We continued thru early high school, every Friday night was Pizza and Game Night. Many times the kids had friends join us.
We have carried the tradition forward to the next generation. We have Pizza and Game Night every week with our grandkids. We even played games on our vacation while we waited for our food. It keeps the kids focused, teaches good sportsmanship, can be educational and is fun. This is especially valuable when service at a restaurant is slow.
What are your family traditions? Have you written them down? If not, please take time to share this precious memory with the generations to come. Maybe they will want to adopt your tradition!
