Every day, I think about our son, James Watkins III. I remember the passion he had for sports in spite of his size; the passion he had for music and the love he shared with his niece.
In October 2016, as we prepared for the holidays, I asked our granddaughter what she wanted for Christmas; just making conversation. Her answer? “More time with my Uncle James!” WOW…that hit me like a ton of bricks; how could I give her that?!? Her beloved Uncle had passed away the previous year after 5 years of cancer treatment.
After thinking about it, I decided it was time to get back to organizing our family pictures and making scrapbooks. I made her a special book; pictures of her uncle as a baby, pictures of him playing sports, pictures of his bands & passion for music…and of course, pictures of him with her and her brother. What better way to honor her desire to be close to her special uncle!
I can’t believe our son has been gone six years! That makes saving the pictures, memorabilia and especially the videos even more important. I don’t want our James to be forgotten!
