This blog will focus on ways to keep family memories alive thru stories. I will share some ideas on how to organize, the tools I use and options to preserve these memories for future generations.
But why are these memories so important?
Today is our son’s 39th birthday. There will be no cake, no gifts, no celebration — you see; he isn’t here to celebrate; he lost his battle with cancer in 2015.
I wanted to start this blog in James’ memory and for all the children gone too soon. I have become very aware of how many parents have lost a child or two. For the bereaved parent, the greatest fear is our child will be forgotten.
Beyond that I also want to share ideas for saving your parents and grandparents stories as well as your own history.
So I begin a new journey — to help families preserve their stories. Especially for all those bereaved parents who need a way to tell their story. I will be sharing my journey in Heritage-Memories and hope you gain some ideas for saving your family memories.
Dedicated to: Our son, James E Watkins, III, 1980 – 2015: Guitarist, Musician, Web and Database Programmer; Intelligent, Creative, Silly, Loving, Strong, a Fighter (battled cancer for 5 years); Not Afraid to Speak His Mind. Known as the Angry Gnome and World’s Greatest Uncle. Never forgotten; forever 34.
I like this! James was a quiet, smiling guy as I remember him! He was polite, a thinker… was often in the Kids of The Kingdom musicals at Countryside Christian Church. I knew him when he was young- a child-somewhat carefree, good observer, and helpful if I was dragging things inside the church which I often was! I recall him helping with the Living Nativity one Christmas Eve. He was cute! It is hard to think of him not being here on this Earthly side of Heaven. I so wish he could have been able to heal from the cancer- and his life is Eternal now! I was glad to see his pictures as a young adult and adult! He certainly had some wonderful moments and qualities! He was a blessing to others! Enjoy those moments when you are given reminders of him- come close to them, appreciate what they tell you and live into Jesus ‘ arms around you! Truly- Sarah Armour
